While Teravalis will achieve this through thoughtfully designed amenities and innovative technology, our commitment to the greater community is demonstrated through our many partnerships with West Valley and national organizations. We’d like to showcase some of the many organizations we volunteer with and contribute to, with the goal of creating a strong and prosperous West Valley and beyond. Many of these organizations offer numerous ways to volunteer and accept donations to support their very important missions, so we encourage you to join us in strengthening our community through any of these worthy causes.
White Tank Mountains Conservancy
Every year, hundreds of thousands of West Valley residents flock to the White Tank Mountains trails and conserved natural areas to stay active or take some time to reflect on the desert’s beauty. The White Tank Mountains Conservancy is a local Arizona conservation group that brings together conservationists, developers, and city leadership to work toward responsible community development that maintains the desert wildlife and protects the native species.
Over the years, Howard Hughes and Teravalis leadership has worked closely with local stakeholders to establish conceptual wildlife corridors between the White Tank Mountains and Belmont Mountains. These corridors will allow local species to travel freely throughout the region, preserving the mountain ranges to keep them alive and thriving for future generations of residents to enjoy.
All Faith Community Services
All Faith Community Services is a food bank and resource center that offers short-term and long-term assistance depending on a family’s needs. AFCS is “Hand-Up” not a “Hand-Out” organization that empowers individuals to overcome and succeed. Their broad range of services includes food and basic needs, job training, education, and volunteer opportunities.
Since our groundbreaking in 2022, Teravalis has been a proud supporter of this organization. From organizing and distributing food boxes to contributing toward capital improvements, our team is passionate about rolling up our sleeves and offering a hand up through this great organization.
Native American Connections
Arizona is home to twenty-two local tribal communities. In recognition of these community builders that came before us, Howard Hughes actively supports Native American Connections, an organization that has been serving local tribal communities for over 50 years. Native American Connections works to ensure those they support, regardless of income level, can afford to live in downtown Phoenix. They also help to provide education, food, healthcare, and recreation to improve the quality of life for those of tribal descent.
Through both volunteer time and financial support, our team was honored to help with painting and maintaining the Pendleton Court recovery housing site, a shelter that provides care and assistance for those struggling with addiction. Our team helped to create a vibrant mural located in their HomeBase Transitional and Emergency Housing for Youth, along with painting the facility’s classroom and lounge space.
Valley Partnership
This November, members of Valley Partnership and the Howard Hughes team joined over 250 volunteers at the Sojourner Center in Central Phoenix, an Arizona charity organization that provides much-needed shelter and resources for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Our team worked alongside others to paint buildings, build tables and benches, upgrade landscaping, and much more to give the facility a full facelift for those seeking shelter there to enjoy.
The event was organized through Valley Partnership, an advocacy group representing the commercial, industrial, and master planned real estate development industries.
Habitat for Humanity
Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been building homes, connections, and hope for individuals and families across the globe. As part of the National commitment to Habitat, Teravalis is partnering with the Central Arizona chapter of Habitat for Humanity to assist them in executing their mission here locally in the Phoenix Metro region.
Our team assisted in building homes, helped organize the Phoenix ReStore warehouse, and managed the many donations Habitat for Humanity receives from caring donors all over the world.
As a company committed to providing opportunity and prosperity for our future residents, we understand that building a house is just the first step in establishing a home. A house provides shelter and safety, but a home is a place to connect, grow, celebrate and build a life together.
HHCares
HHCares is our company-wide Howard Hughes program established to help leave a positive footprint in and around our communities and complement the sustainable and inclusive initiatives inherent across our business. Last year, our initiatives included:
- Nearly 2,800 hours of volunteer time
- 220 Local charities supported through monetary donations and volunteerism
- $2.6 Million donated nationwide, including over $250,000 in individual employee donations and company matches
- 8,100 Employee award and recognition moments celebrated, 55% of which were peer to peer
- Scholarships to high school seniors residing in and around our communities
With the 2025 grand opening of Teravalis, we will continue to demonstrate the power of community, not only through community engagement, but also through our many partnerships with organizations that continue to make a difference.
