Buckeye is part of the vibrant and growing West Valley, a location in the Phoenix Metro Area that has seen unparalleled growth over the last twenty years. In this short time, the West Valley has built large scale parks, sporting arenas, and local entertainment venues that are attracting fans and adventurers from all over the country, thanks to their unique offerings. That’s some pretty good news for hikers, mountain bikers, and spring training fans alike.
Teravalis is proud to be located in this growing destination, and we would like to share some of the most popular West Valley parks and venues perfect for active living or an exciting night out.
Parks to Stay Active in Near Buckeye
White Tank Mountain Regional Park
Teravalis will neighbor the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, a 30,000-acre beautiful landscape with 40 miles of hiking and biking trails. The White Tank Mountain Regional Park is part of the Maricopa County Park system, a collection of 12 regional parks connected by the 315-mile Maricopa Trail. The park is notable for its many ridges and canyons that have naturally formed over thousands of years. During our rainy season when heavy showers fall, the water plunges from the high rock walls through natural chutes, which have caused deep reservoirs – or tanks – giving the park its name.
The park hosts several events year-round, including community hikes and guided tours to view the natural wildlife.
Teravalis works closely with the White Tank Mountains Conservancy to maintain wildlife corridors that gives the local species a safe and open space to flourish, away from homes and businesses.
Skyline Regional Park
Skyline Regional Park is an 8,700-acre mountain preserve located in the southern part of the White Tank Mountains. It’s the ideal spot for people trying to stay active, with several different trails to explore, including Granite Falls Trail, Quartz Mine Trail, Javelina Summit Trail, and more.
The park is also fantastic for hanging out with friends or enjoying a weekend in the West Valley wilderness. Parkgoers can rent from several ramadas, complete with picnic tables and barbeque grills. Campers can rent from seven different campsites where they can stay for up to seven days.
The park hosts a range of engaging events and programs for people of all ages, like local hikes, yoga classes, archery classes, wildlife learning, and more.
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Lake Pleasant is one of the most popular spots for West Valley residents. Campers, boaters, and nature enthusiasts regularly visit Lake Pleasant Regional Park to enjoy views of the lake or hang out with friends and family.
Lake Pleasant Park is also a go-to area for fishers, where teams of bass, bluegill, catfish and more can be found.
The park is also home to Scorpion Bay, a floating playground where people can rent pontoons and ski boats or dock their own boat. Scorpion Bay is pet-friendly and a great place to take children.
Estrella Mountain Regional Park
Located in the southwest region of the valley is Estrella Mountain Regional Park, unique in that it contains a large wetland, also known as a riparian, that fills during winter and monsoon season.
Estrella Mountain Regional Park offers rich history as it used to lie within the Mexican border prior to the Gadsen Purchase of 1853. In 1954, it was the first regional park added to the Maricopa County Park System.
The park features a range of activities, including golfing at the Tres Rios Golf Course, horseback riding, stargazing, hiking, and more.
