Designed Around Nature: Discover Parks at Teravalis

Set between the White Tank and Belmont Mountains and influenced by the natural systems of the Hassayampa River corridor, Floreo at Teravalis is designed around the landscape that makes the Phoenix West Valley unique. 

Here, the Sonoran Desert is more than a backdrop. It’s part of everyday life. Native plants, open spaces, trails, and parks are woven throughout the neighborhood, creating opportunities to get outside and experience the surrounding environment close to home. 

The desert also inspired some of most distinctive design details in the community. Native bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and dragonflies serve as a unifying theme across parks, trails, and gathering spaces, celebrating the pollinators that help sustain the desert ecosystem. 

Parks Designed for Discovery, Play and Connection 

With 85 acres of community parks planned throughout our first village, Floreo, spending time outside will never be far from home. Every home is within a 10-minute walk of a park, while trails and open spaces create connections throughout the neighborhoods. The trail network will also link homes with schools, employment centers, commercial areas, and community amenities, making it easier to walk or bike to more of the places residents use every day. 

Each park has its own personality, with designs inspired by the plants and pollinators of the Sonoran Desert: 

• Floreo Park draws inspiration from native desert bees with honeycomb-inspired forms, pollinator gardens, and connected walking and biking trails. 

• Bloom Park and Sunflower Park celebrate butterflies through immersive play areas and plantings that provide nectar sources throughout the year. 

• Windrose Park takes inspiration from Arizona’s hummingbirds with sculptural gathering spaces and imaginative play areas. 

• Dahlia Park reflects the movement and color of dragonflies. 

• Poppy Park encourages exploration through flowing pathways and nature-based play. 

• Indigo Park offers shaded lawns and flexible gathering spaces designed for residents of all ages. 

Trails and interpretive markers add another layer of discovery, helping residents learn about native plants, local ecosystems, and the wildlife that make the region unique. In Teravalis, spending time outside can be both recreational and educational, creating a deeper connection to the surrounding Sonoran Desert. 

Open Space That Adds Beauty and Purpose 

Floreo at Teravalis’s connection to nature extends beyond its parks. More than 600 acres of preserved open space, habitat corridors, and trails help maintain natural connections across the landscape while supporting both wildlife and recreation. 

Native and adaptive plants, WaterSense principles, and habitat preservation efforts help reduce water demand while keeping the neighborhood connected to its desert surroundings. Dark Sky principles also help minimize light pollution, preserve views of the desert night sky, and reduce impacts on wildlife and pollinator activity.
